How do you fix an orphaned page?
Is orphaned content damaging your SEO results?
Today I discovered the easy way to fix orphaned content on WordPress.
Orphaned pages are pages and posts that have no inbound internal links pointing at them making them hard to find for both search engines and visitors.
If Google can't find your pages and posts then you're in trouble.
Fixing orphaned content is really easy to do, you just have to link to orphaned content and adopt it. The problem you have is finding it.
There are a couple of ways to find orphaned content.
1/ You need to run a site audit and grab all your content links and add them into a Word doc or alike. Next, you have to crawl your site to compile a list of pages and posts that have been indexed and then just cross-reference between both lists.
Links that are not indexed are more than likely orphaned and need to internally linked.
2/ If you use Yoast SEO premium you can find orphaned content very quickly with Yoast's orphaned content filter.
So you have one method that is tedious, time-consuming, and costly and another that requires you to be a Yoast SEO premium subscriber.
